Lasting community impact

Our story is firmly rooted in the North East—ever since Gilbert Jackson started providing legal advice across the Tees Valley in 1876.

In that time we have become guardians for the region, empowering our people and our communities to grow, thrive and prosper. With a 100-strong team embedded in the area, and long-term support for charities and educational organisations, it’s a commitment which is stronger than ever.

As well as being a corporate patron of High Tide Foundation and supporters of Power of Women, we annually fundraise for our charity of the year—as voted for by our team. Alongside financial backing, we pledge support and resources to these local causes, which also includes schools, colleges and universities.

We have also developed our own environmental management system (EMS) based on the international standard ISO 14001. Being a service company, our efforts focus on waste reduction, as well as water and energy use. As we continue our sustainability journey, the new policies and procedures have been well received by our team, who are playing an important part in roll out and future initiatives.

Our employee suggestion boxes and monthly communications meetings allow our people to deliver their thoughts and opinions, contributing views and suggestions on ESG. This has allowed us to save plastic and waste, introduce employee flu jabs and develop additional holiday purchasing opportunities. These schemes go hand in hand with our mental health and wellbeing support, which includes a ‘Zen Den’ space at our Stockton office, monthly breakfasts and dress down Fridays.

High Tide Foundation

We have been working with High Tide Foundation for a number of years and are proud to be a corporate partner.

Founded in 2012, High Tide is an independent charity committed to improving opportunities for 11-16 year olds. Their real-life work experiences and life-changing programmes open up a world of opportunity and show young people that anything really is possible. Focused solely on the Tees Valley, they’re on a mission to raise aspirations, unlock potential, change perceptions, break down barriers and create meaningful connections between students and local employers. And we’re proud to play our part.

For us, there’s immense value in inspiring the next generation and showcasing the exciting career opportunities within our sector. As well as allowing young people to discover career paths they might not have known existed, it gives us the chance to develop future talent and highlight the skills we need.

Over the years of working with High Tide, our team have enjoyed engaging with students and often continue to provide career support and advice once placements have finished.
