#BackBritishFarmingDay

Today is Back British Farming Day, the annual celebration of the farming sector, which was postponed following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

This year there will be a new aspect to the celebration; NFU’s Community Farming Heroes will be honored at an event to be held in Westminster. These heroes have been nominated by their local MPs as standout contributors to their local community.

Farmers are often pillars of their local community, going about their work helping the community, sometimes unseen. I have experienced that first hand; a local farmer cleared a village road when an aluminum roof came off an outbuilding during Storm Arwen. It completely blocked a route out of the village, but the farmer went out in his tractor in difficult conditions and hauled the huge piece of metal to the verge to ensure that the village residents could get to work and school the following morning.

It is this sort of contribution to local communities, as well as many other examples, which will be celebrated at the new event today.

NFU President Minette Batters praised NFU members for often going the extra mile and seeing Back British Farming Day and, in particular, the Community

Farming Heroes event as a way of recognizing and celebrating their invaluable contributions”.

Jacksons has a proud history of working with NFU and its members and we are delighted that we have been re-appointed to its legal panel, following a rigorous application and interview process.

Everyone at Jacksons is proud to support NFU in promoting Back British Farming Day and we look forward to providing legal advice and assistance to farming businesses in the region throughout the year and in years to come.
