With the Renters’ Rights Act now in force, landlords should be aware of the critical obligation to provide the official Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet to every named tenant by 31st May 2026.
The exact government PDF (The Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet 2026) must be used – a link alone to the Information Sheet is not sufficient! The link can be provided in hard copy or as an electronic attachment.
Failure to serve the Information Sheet correctly can result in fines of up to £7,000.
Not up to date with the Renters’ Rights Act? Read our full blog to understand what you need to do, how to stay compliant and a form to request a copy of our Landlords’ Compliance Checklist which outlines what you need to do and when.
The obligation applies to assured or AST tenancies created before 1st May 2026 with written terms. For tenancies based purely on verbal agreements, landlords must instead provide written details of key tenancy terms.
Now is the time for landlords and agents to review portfolios and ensure compliance before the deadline.
